Critical Raw Materials Act proposed by EU Commission

The Commission has today proposed a comprehensive set of measures to ensure the EU's access to a safe, diversified, affordable and sustainable supply of critical raw materials. Critical raw materials are indispensable for a wide range of strategic sectors, including net-zero emissions, digital, aerospace and defence. This measure is particularly sensitive in our photovoltaic and battery technology sector, where the vast majority of products and equipment are imported from China, while critical raw materials such as rare earth metals are mined either directly in China or in foreign mines controlled by Chinese companies.
